Ladybird was once one of the most iconic brands of the 20th century in Great Britain. However, changing conditions on the high street soon found them struggling to retain their position as a leading children’s fashion and toy manufacturer.
The challenge for Ladybird was simple, communicate with parents, children and potential new distributors worldwide. Armed with a revised brand and fantastic portfolio of imagery and a desire to produce a digital presence that would set them apart, the journey to a distinctive, exciting website began on a wet afternoon in Liverpool.
With SEO not being a major concern, a freer approach to design could be pursued. It felt right to use the Ladybird icon, a cute bug, as a central character in the website, helpfully guiding the visitor through the journey. The fabulous, emotive imagery is held together with side to side and parallax scrolling.
